Research

Today’s healthcare is reactive-patients

often act only after symptoms appear.

Despite rising interest in wellness, most

people lack tools to understand

long-term health risks.

The Opportunity

Design

Longevity is not about adding years to life, its about adding life

to years.

Preventive healthcare can change the way we approach our well-being. Instead of waiting for

illnesses to appear, using genetics, lab reports, and AI can help predict risks early and guide

people to make better lifestyle choices. This shift from reaction to prevention can reduce

hospital costs, improve quality of life, and empower individuals to stay healthier for longer.

We wanted to understand how people experience the

healthcare system-and what they wish it did differently.

While healthcare often focuses on treatment, we believe prevention begins long before

symptoms apprear. We wanted to uncover how people think about health in everyday life,

and where support is missing.

Although this project had immense possibilities, our fixed timeline meant we needed to prioritize.

During the wireframing stage, we distilled the app into three core sections: Onboarding, Results, and

Personalized Recommendations.

Brand Identity

When we chose the name aera, we imagined a future where preventive care is always the first step for

every individual. Our tagline, ‘A new era of preventive care’, reflects this vision and makes aera the

perfect name for our brand. Initially envisioned as futuristic and high-tech, the identity evolved to feel

more human—centered on warmth, care, and connection. This shift led to a rounded wordmark that

conveys approachability and balance, making aera both modern and personal, embodying the harmony

between technology and care.

Our Edge in a Competitive Market

We studied competitors’ brand voice and product style to see where aera fits. Unlike static, reserved

players, aera thrives in the Modern + Expressive space—warm, human, and designed for action.

We wanted to understand how people experience the

healthcare system-and what they wish it did differently.

This journey maps how a user moves from discovery to onboarding and into everyday engagement. It

highlights key actions, touchpoints, emotions, and “moments of truth” where Aera must remove friction,

earn trust, and turn insights into one clear next step.

Working through ambiguity & trusting the process

With Aera, we began with a question—not a plan: what if healthcare started with prevention? When we

showed early prototypes to people and clinicians, we learned that risk charts and dense metrics made

folks anxious and unsure what to do next. So we simplified to three small, daily steps and added a

short “Because” under each one, so the guidance felt explained rather than bossy. We softened the

tone from clinical to calm, and grounded personalization in real life—diet, time, weather, schedule.

People said, “It tells me what to do today,” and clinicians appreciated the clarity. Trust grew as

Aera became less about dashboards and more about helping someone take the next right step.

Seamless Onboarding

As part of onboarding, users securely upload their genetic, lab, and health records. The flow is designed

to feel effortless and reassuring, turning what could be a complex process into a smooth first step

toward personalized preventive care.

Health Results

After uploading their records, users receive organized results from their genetic, lab, and health data.

The design makes complex information easy to read and understand, building trust and setting the

stage for the next step in preventive care.

Personalized Insights

Beyond just results, aera translates data into tailored insights. By combining genetics, lab reports, and

lifestyle information, the system highlights key health patterns and areas of risk—making the information

relevant, personal, and easy to act on.
